How do we test ski gear?
Every season our team spends a week at the SIGB Ski Test, putting the latest skis through real conditions. Every ski is tested by more than one skier, so no verdict rests on one person’s opinion (or one person’s bad day).
Our testers are advanced skiers as a minimum, most commonly at BASI Level 3 instructor standard, joined by current and former Olympic-level skiers. We keep testing kit on resort trips through the winter too.
Our InTheSnow reviews are our own. Brands don’t pay for a review or a rating, and any partner content is clearly labelled.

Ski gear reviews: your questions answered
Are InTheSnow gear reviews independent?
Yes. Our InTheSnow reviews are run with our own testers and written by our team. Brands don’t pay for coverage or ratings. Where we work with a partner, such as the Ellis Brigham gear edit, it’s labelled clearly.
How does InTheSnow test skis?
Each season our testers ski a wide range of models at the SIGB Ski Test, and every ski is tested by more than one skier. Testers are advanced skiers as a minimum, most often BASI Level 3 instructors, alongside current and former Olympic-level skiers.
What are the best skis for 2026/27?
It depends on where and how you ski. Our Best Skis for 2026/27 guide splits our top picks into all-mountain, on-piste and freeride, and links to the full review of each ski.
Where can I watch InTheSnow gear review videos?
