The short answer There’s no single cheapest week to ski in 2026/27. Based on Heidi’s live package prices for January to March 2027, the best-value windows are mid-January (weeks starting 9 and 16 January), which suits groups of friends sharing, and mid-March (week starting 13 March), which is where couples are finding the best prices. Before Christmas and after Easter can be cheaper again, but with less terrain open. Research from the UK’s second largest ski holiday provider, Heidi, based on current ski holiday prices, has revealed that there’s no single cheapest week this season. As to which week between Christmas and Easter typically offers the best price, Heidi found the answer is nuanced, moving depending on party size and trip length. “January is still one of the best bets for a cheaper ski week, but this year it’s definitely worth looking at mid-March as well. With Easter landing early, the pre-Easter dip arrives a week sooner. The stretch from late February after half-term through to Easter is shaping up as both the best-value and the quietest part of the season so far, though there’s plenty of time for that to change,” said Heidi’s Co-Founder, Marcus Blunt. When are the cheapest weeks to ski in 2026/27? The March price dip repeats a trend of recent seasons which has seen mid-March become more affordable than the traditional early-January low-priced weeks. The two windows Heidi found keep coming up between Christmas and Easter were: Mid-January (weeks starting 9 and 16 Jan). The post-New Year lull is still alive and well, and it’s where groups of friends sharing are finding the best value. Mid-March (week starting 13 March). Easter Sunday falls on 28 March, a week earlier than last year. That pulls the traditional pre-Easter bargain week forward into mid-March, which is where couples are seeing the best prices. This is based on current live package pricing (accommodation, flights and transfers) shown on heidi.com for January to March 2027 departures. The company cautions that prices will move as departure dates get closer, but this is how it’s looking right now. Which week suits you? It depends who’s coming. Here’s Heidi’s picture at a glance. Who’s going Best-value window Why Groups of friends sharing Mid-January: weeks starting 9 and 16 January 2027 The post-New Year lull is still delivering the best value for groups Couples Mid-March: week starting 13 March 2027 Easter Sunday is 28 March, so the pre-Easter dip arrives a week sooner Anyone after a quieter week Late February (after half-term) to Easter Shaping up as both the best-value and the quietest part of the season so far Families tied to school holidays New Year and February half-term are peak weeks Considerably more expensive due to demand, so booking three months or more ahead helps Flexible on conditions Before Christmas week or after Easter Typically cheaper still, but less terrain is usually open Where are the best-value ski resorts this season? “In terms of budget-friendly resorts, France and Andorra are dominating this season, including Saint-Gervais, Morillon and La Massana, with Bansko in Bulgaria also offering great value,” a Heidi spokesperson added. St Gervais in France is among the best-value resorts this season Is it cheaper to ski before Christmas or after Easter? Prices are typically lower still before Christmas week and after the Easter holidays, but open resorts often have less terrain skiable then. If you’re tempted anyway, our guides to the best resorts for early-season skiing and where you can ski in May are the place to start. Should you book now or wait for a late deal? Remember these are today’s prices, not a promise. They will move. If you’re tied to school holidays, the advice is to get in early. Heidi says peak weeks like New Year and February half-term tend to be considerably more expensive because of demand. “Booking early (three months ahead or more) usually means better choice and value, especially for families or groups travelling at peak times like New Year or February half-term,” says Marcus. If your dates can move, you’ve got more room to play with. Heidi takes bookings as late as two days before departure, and its flexible date search and live Snow Score are there for exactly that kind of last-minute trip. We cover both approaches, plus what a ski holiday actually costs and how ATOL protection works, in our full guide on how to book a ski holiday the easy way. Does it have to be a Saturday-to-Saturday week? No. Heidi doesn’t do fixed packages. Holidays are built in real time, so you can stay anywhere from 2 to 14 nights and fly on any day of the week from more than 20 UK airports, to over 350 resorts across Europe and Canada. Shorter trips are catching up fast. Heidi says its bookings for 2 to 5 night breaks this winter are already up 62% on last year, and a short self-catered break in Bulgaria starts at around £200 to £250 per person for flights, transfers and accommodation. (Lift passes, hire and lessons are on top. They always are.) Planning further ahead? Our ski season planner has the key dates for the winter. Cheapest weeks to ski: your questions answered What is the cheapest week to go skiing in 2026/27? There isn’t one single cheapest week. Heidi’s live package prices for January to March 2027 point to two best-value windows: mid-January (weeks starting 9 and 16 January) and mid-March (week starting 13 March). Why is mid-March good value this season? Easter Sunday falls on 28 March 2027, a week earlier than last year. That pulls the traditional pre-Easter bargain week forward into mid-March, which is where couples are seeing the best prices. Is January still a cheap time to ski? Yes. Heidi’s Marcus Blunt calls January “still one of the best bets for a cheaper ski week”, and the mid-January weeks are where groups of friends sharing are finding the best value. Which ski resorts are the best value this season? According to Heidi, France and Andorra are dominating for budget-friendly resorts, including Saint-Gervais, Morillon and La Massana, with Bansko in Bulgaria also offering great value. Is it cheaper to ski before Christmas or after Easter? Prices are typically lower still before Christmas week and after the Easter holidays, but resorts that are open often have less terrain skiable then. When should I book a ski holiday for the best price? For peak weeks like New Year and February half-term, Heidi recommends booking three months ahead or more for better choice and value. If your dates are flexible, you can book with Heidi as late as two days before departure. Two good weeks, then. Pick the one that fits your crew. Ready to start planning?
