You will know the moment. The sun disappears behind a cloud halfway down, the piste turns to a flat grey sheet, and suddenly every bump is a surprise. The SCOTT React is built for exactly that, with a magnetic lens system that lets you swap to the included low-light lens in seconds, without taking your gloves off.
As featured in InTheSnow magazine, Issue 82
Premium goggles with a clever glove-friendly magnetic lens-change system, allowing you to adapt quickly as mountain light changes. SCOTT’s Amplifier Lens Technology boosts contrast and definition, while NoFog treatment and moisture-absorbing face foam keep vision clear. A spare low-light S1 lens is included.

How does the lens change work?
The lens is held on by magnets and slides off and on one-handed. That alone is not unusual any more, but SCOTT adds a Lens Lock to stop it popping off in a fall or a crowded gondola, which is the main worry with magnetic systems. It means swapping lenses becomes something you actually do on the chairlift, rather than something you mean to do and never bother with.
What is the Amplifier lens?
SCOTT’s Amplifier technology filters light to boost specific wavelengths, which sharpens contrast so you can read the snow surface more easily. In practice, contrast lenses like this are at their most useful in mixed light, when shadows and snow texture are hardest to pick out.
The spare S1 lens is the bit we would not overlook. A proper low-light lens is the difference between skiing confidently in poor visibility and crawling down, and many goggles at this price make you buy it separately.
Will they fog?
SCOTT treats the lens with its NoFog coating and uses its ACS venting, with air coming in through the lens and out at the bottom of the frame. The three-layer NoSweat foam absorbs moisture before it reaches the lens. No goggle is fog-proof if it is pushed up onto a sweaty forehead, but this is a thorough set-up.
Our InTheSnow review
Goggles are where a lot of us cut corners, and then spend a week squinting into flat light wondering where the moguls went. The React is the cure.
SKI Magazine’s testers named the React AMP Pro version their Best Overall goggle, praising a fit that works across a wide range of faces and lenses that swap in seconds. One reviewer on Freeride.com crashed several times without the magnetic lens budging, which is exactly what you want to hear about a magnetic system. The spare low-light lens earns its place too; that same reviewer rated SCOTT’s low-light lens the best he’d used.
Realistically, £225 is a serious spend, the darker mirrored lenses are very dark, and one tester felt some pressure on the bridge of his nose by the end of a long day. Try them on with your own helmet. Get the fit right, though, and this is one goggle that will happily see you through a whole Alpine week, whatever the weather does.
