Our first look at this boot for 2026/27, based on the brand’s specs and fit information. We’ll add a full InTheSnow review once our testers have skied it. How we test.
Most of us aren’t after the stiffest, narrowest race boot on the wall. We want something that skis properly, fits a normal foot and doesn’t need a lie-down after the first run. That’s the brief for the K2 Recon 120 Zonal BOA, and for 2026/27 it’s had a proper going-over.

What’s new for 2026/27?
K2 has reworked the chassis for more responsiveness and support, and describes the 120 flex as strong and progressive. There’s an all-new P2 liner for comfort, stability and a more precise connection to the shell.
The headline is the Zonal BOA system: two dials on the lower shell that let you tune different zones of the foot separately. K2 says that means fewer pressure points, a secure heel and better edge-to-edge control. Forward lean is adjustable too, with the turn of a screwdriver.
Who is it for?
Confident all-mountain skiers with average-width feet. A 100mm last is the middle of the road in the best sense, and 120 is a flex that suits strong intermediates and advanced skiers who want support without fighting the boot.
Our InTheSnow view
Two dials on the lower shell is a smart answer to the oldest boot complaint: tight in one spot, loose in another. Being able to tune the forefoot and instep separately should help plenty of feet that don’t quite match a standard shell. At 2,210g as listed it isn’t the lightest boot around, which is the trade-off for a solid all-mountain build (and you’ll stop noticing once you’re clicked in).
The InTheSnow verdict
A well-judged all-mountain boot for the many skiers with medium-volume feet, with a fit system that should make it easier to get right.
