The Coolest Ski Resort in The Alps

The Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn stands out as arguably the coolest ski resort in the Alps; a vast, high‑energy winter playground where variety, atmosphere and sheer scale combine into one unforgettable experience.

Variety comes built‑in thanks to the layout of the region. Saalbach Hinterglemm and Leogang sit in Salzburg, while Fieberbrunn lies just across the border in Tyrol. Together they form a single, fully linked ski area. No matter which village you choose as your base, you’re plugged into the same enormous mountain playground. The region is known as the Home of Lässig.

270 km of Slopes in One of the Biggest Ski Areas in the Alps

It’s one of the biggest ski areas in the Alps and piste mileage lovers will be in heaven here with 270 km of groomed runs to explore. That’s everything from mellow blue cruisers to fast, flowing reds and demanding black descents. There’s always another slope waiting around the corner. They’re served by 70 state-of-the-art lifts ready to whisk you back up to the top.

Skiing here isn’t just about individual runs, it’s about conquering full circuits. The Challenge is the biggest of them all: 12,400 metres of vertical and 65 km of skiing that will test even seasoned skiers and riders. There are plenty of other, easier, circuits weaving through the area too, offering scenic loops and full-day adventures for every level.

In further good news, every ski ticket here is a Ski ALPIN CARD, giving you access to all three ski resorts in the wider region and increasing the kilometre count to a total of 408 km of slopes. You’ll find rolling pistes, steep challenges, freeride zones and scenic cruising terrain.

  • 270 km of groomed runs served by 70 lifts
  • The Challenge: 12,400 metres of vertical and 65 km of skiing
  • 408 km of slopes in the wider region with the Ski ALPIN CARD
  • Over 60 mountain huts

Freeriders treat this place like a pilgrimage. The resort is the only German-speaking stop of the Freeride World Tour, with the legendary Wildseeloder North Face above Fieberbrunn as its stage. Add extensive off-piste terrain and a dedicated freeride park, and you’ve got one of Europe’s top powder destinations.

Food is part of the adventure right across the Skicircus. Over 60 mountain huts serve everything from rustic classics to modern Alpine cuisine. Think Kaiserschmarrn, hearty stews and local wines enjoyed on sunny terraces. Down in the villages, restaurants and bars keep the atmosphere buzzing, and après‑ski turns evenings into unforgettable stories.

And if you ever fancy a break from skiing, the region offers sledding, cross‑country trails, winter hikes, snowshoe tours and scenic walking routes. Everything is well maintained, beautifully signposted and designed to make your winter days as varied as possible.

It’s a resort built for everyone: beginners, families, freestyle riders, backcountry explorers and of course foodies will find their perfect corner in this vast, snow‑sure domain.

Big Events

What truly sets the Skicircus apart is its ability to blend world‑class skiing with a vibrant, season‑long event culture. From the Freeride World Tour in Fieberbrunn to the Audi FIS Alpine Ski World Cup returning 27–28 February 2027, bringing top‑tier downhill and Super‑G action to the Zwölferkogel, there’s always something happening.

Winter kicks off with the BERGFESTival at the start of the season, running 3–6 December 2026, where Saalbach transforms into a mountain‑stage of live bands and alpine party energy. Just days later, the beats intensify at Rave on Snow, held 10–13 December 2026, delivering more than 50 hours of electronic music across multiple floors and open‑air venues.

Magic March

At the other end of the upcoming season spring arrives with style bringing the new Magic March across the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn, delivering spring skiing at its most relaxed and sun‑soaked.

As winter shifts into its brighter, longer days, the entire region transforms into a laid‑back alpine playground filled with wide‑open pistes, warm sunshine and a string of casual events and surprises. With more space on the slopes, no lift queues and panoramic views from every terrace, March offers a slower, more indulgent rhythm.

Early risers get one of the biggest rewards during Magic March, as selected lifts open between 7:30 and 8 am, giving skiers first tracks on fresh, perfectly groomed slopes before the day warms, with the option to stop for a mountain breakfast along the way. Thanks to cold nights, the resort’s top slope guarantee holds strong each morning, ensuring firm, grippy conditions even as temperatures rise. And if the sunny side of the valley softens later in the day, the clever east-west orientation of Glemmtal means you can simply switch to the shaded side and keep enjoying crisp, quiet pistes.

Magic March also brings flavour, music and atmosphere. Mountain huts serve regional dishes and alpine favourites under blue skies, while favourite existing events like Chasing Slopes Festival are back.

The Chasing Slopes Festival, this winter taking place from 12–14 March 2027, turns the Skicircus into a high‑energy ski playground, featuring free ski tests with top brands, hands‑on workshops, side events and the headline race THE CHASE, where pros and amateurs charge down the mountain together. Across multiple days, it blends action, coaching and vibrant après‑ski atmosphere for every level of skier.

There’s also the highly popular White Pearl Mountain Days, from 19–28 March 2027, a ten‑day celebration of sunshine skiing, international DJs and alpine lifestyle complete with wellness sessions and sundowner vibes.

Families benefit too, with snow trails, funslopes and the Easter Bonus running from 20 March to 4 April 2027, offering special deals for children including a free lift pass for all kids born in 2011 or later when their parents buy a 4 day or longer ski pass. But whenever they visit families thrive in the Skicircus. Across the entire area, children can discover fun zones, beginner-friendly slopes, magic carpets, themed adventures and interactive snow playgrounds. Everything is designed to be safe, easy to navigate and perfect for learning.

Families visiting in late March can also catch Timok’s Family Festival in Fieberbrunn, running 22–25 March 2027 around the Streubödenbahn middle station. Every afternoon there are snow groomer and quad rides, face painting, games, a sledging area with free sledges and live shows on stage, and the whole programme is free. You only need a lift ticket to ride the Streubödenbahn up to the festival.

For beginners, March is a hidden gem: gentle temperatures, quiet slopes and plenty of room for wide, confident turns. Ski a few hours in the morning, relax on a sunny terrace in the afternoon. That’s the Magic March way. You’ll find Saalbach’s Learn‑to‑Ride Park, Hinterglemm’s Family Park, Leogang’s Leo’s Kinderland and Fieberbrunn’s Timok’s Wild World all offer gentle terrain, fun features and supportive learning environments.
