The first Ritz-Carlton Reserve to open in Japan will open its doors this December in YTL Hotels’ Niseko Village, Hokkaido.
The 50-room Higashiyama Niseko Village, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, is set to open on 15th December 2020 as the famous powder resort gears up for the winter season.
The hotel will sit at the base of Mount Niseko Annupuri in Niseko Village, enjoying panoramic views of Mount Yotei and the surrounding mountain ranges.
The hotel will give skiers a luxury base from which to enjoy the epic powder conditions that have made Niseko a true bucket-list destination among skiers. The 2,191 acres of varied terrain and extensive backcountry opportunities here are accompanied by a unique microclimate, which brings cold weather from the frozen land mass of Siberia. This results in some of the world’s most reliable and abundant snowfall, around 12 to 18 metres every year that remains chilled, crisp and fluffy thanks to the cold temperatures.
However, skiing in Japan is as much about the experiences off the slopes as on them. For this reason, the new Ritz Carlton will include two distinctive restaurants, one lounge, a spa and onsen and a fitness centre. The aim is to provide guests with a year-round experience of the authentic Niseko lifestyle.
YTL Hotels’ Niseko Village is also home to three other hotels including a Hilton hotel, the all-suite hotel Hinode Hills, which opened in December 2019, and a row of luxury townhouses. The village has recently been selected by Sapporo City Government to host all four alpine disciplines in their bid for the 2030 Winter Olympic Games; slalom, giant slalom, super-giant slalom (super-G) and downhill.
Nightly rates at Higashiyama Niseko Village will start from JPY 65,000 in the summer season and JPY 120,000 in the winter
