Chamonix Snow Report and Forecast 22 April, 2018

It’s the last day of the season at the Brevent area in Chamonix but there’;s another week or so to go for the Chamonix Valley as a whole – open to May 1st.

The amount of terrain available has dropped dramatically however with about 20 of the 80+ groomed runs in the region (including Brevent) currently open, so less still for the final week.

Spring skiing conditions with warm days and sub-zero (up high) nights so the snow is cold and hard on the slopes first thing in the morning but good from  mid morning to early afternoon.

Chamonix is the ski touring capital of the alps of course and that will continue well in to May but avalanche warning levels are high because of the changable conditions and the big volumes of snow still on the mountains from the big falls earlier in the year.

The week ahead looks dry and sunny.
