Spain’s leading resort of Baqueira Beret is preparing for the 2026–2027 winter season with an investment of €24 million on work carried out since last May. Skiers arriving after the resort opens on November 28th will find Baqueira 1800 completely renovated and an all new Mirador six-seater detachable chairlift. There are also new slopes, expanded beginner areas, and novelties in dining and digital services.

New Mirador Lift and central hub at Baqueira 1800

The new Mirador chairlift, engineered by Doppelmayr within its D-Line series, replaces the older lift that had operated since 1990. Equipped with 144 six-seater chairs, it reaches an uphill capacity of 3,000 people per hour. Its 2,441-metre route spans a 620-metre vertical rise to reach an altitude of 2,469 metres, offering greater throughput and enhanced passenger comfort.

A new central sector at Baqueira 1800 reorganizes and expands the beginner zone with a designated learning area designed to improve safety, capacity, and spatial flow. Interventions include relocating the beginner slopes, dismantling the Rabadà platter lift, and installing two new double magic carpets named Rabadà and Pastors, each capable of carrying 5,760 people per hour. A new covered pedestrian magic carpet featuring an XXL gallery and wider corridor adds an additional transport capacity of 2,520 people per hour.

With these developments, transport capacity at Baqueira 1800 more than doubles from 8,300 to 17,040 people per hour. Overall, this season’s resort investments increase total uphill capacity by 16%, reaching 74,123 skiers per hour.

New slopes and more space for beginners

The ski resort offers 175 kilometres of slopes and itineraries across 132 marked routes, including 125 groomed pistes and 7 designated off-piste itineraries. In Era Coma, Baqueira’s beginner sector, two new red slopes have been added: Chicòia and Parpalhòla, measuring 557 and 430 metres in length, respectively. Remodeling work also covered the final section of Mirador, Salida Cara Norte, and the beginner slopes at 1800, along with the widening of the narrow section of Vista Ruda and the redesign of the lower stretch of the Lebre blue slope. In addition, Pasarelhs, Garia, and Orri de Tredòs are now officially categorized as off-piste itineraries.

In Beret, the beginner area expands this winter through the installation of the magic carpets relocated from Baqueira 1800. The Era Escaleta 2 conveyor adds a capacity of 1,440 people per hour to the Era Escaleta 1 carpet, boosting the sector’s throughput from 2,140 to 3,580 people per hour. The area also introduces the new Gireta slope and additional snowmaking units.

Expanded snowmaking and new machinery

The resort strengthens its snowmaking infrastructure with seven new snow guns and the redistribution of existing units across Baqueira 1800 to service the updated terrain layout. The fleet also incorporates two new PistenBully PB800 Polar snowcats (one winch-equipped model) and two new snowmobiles.

Works are rounded out with new snow fences and winch anchor fixtures, trail stabilization along the Argulls path, and the first phase of regulatory overhauls on the bottom stations of the Argulls and Teso dera Mina chairlifts.

Updated dining and après-ski in Bonaigua and Argulls

At Bonaigua, located at 2,072 metres next to the Cap del Port parking area, the former Refugi San Miguel reopens as Xalet d’Àneu. Redesigned in collaboration with Mahou, the venue consolidates previous restaurant and après-ski spaces into a unified concept.

Its menu features mountain cuisine and regional specialties alongside tapas, vermouth, sharing plates, and pizzas. Menu highlights include large white bean stew with duck confit (marmita de judiones con confit de pato), alongside pairing packages suited for groups gathering after skiing.

Argulls debuts an updated marquee with an expanded outdoor terrace and a refreshed selection of Leo Boeck sausages and snacks. The area also introduces a vending zone intended for quick breaks before returning to the slopes.

Redesigned website and digital tools for the slopes

Baqueira Beret is also launching a faster, more visual, and intuitive website with mobile- and tablet-optimized navigation. The online booking system has been streamlined, offering package discounts on bundled services. On-mountain dining venues are also adopting new digital menus

The official app provides an interactive real-time map displaying slope and lift openings; Ski Track, to log runs, average speed, vertical drop, and distance covered; a live friend-finder feature; and a notification centre detailing daily weather alerts and slope conditions.

Baqueira Beret’s opening day is scheduled for Saturday, November 28, 2026, and closing for Sunday, April 4, 2027, weather and snow conditions permitting.
