It may be the start of April but the snow depth continues to grow in the French Alps with some areas reporting up to a metre of fresh snow in the last seven days.
It was a snowy Easter weekend in France with some ski centres clocking up 40cm of snow on Saturday/Sunday. It was snowy earlier last week too with Tignes, for example, clocking up 45cm of fresh snow on Wedneday and Thursday.

Some of the country’s ski areas like Avoriaz in the Portes du Soleil are now up to historic 5m base depths whilst others like La Rosiere and Val Thorens say they have had around 10 metres of snowfall so far this season – much more than the norm.
So French ski areas will be closing for the season over the next few weeks with exceptional snow depths and what looks like will be great conditions.
Of course some areas are open longer than other – Tignes and Val Thoens are amongst the French areas that stay open in to May.
