Ski resorts in Western Canada have been reporting fresh snowfall on their higher terrain, with images on social media receiving thousands of likes.

Snowfall in late August is not unusual along the Alberta/BC border but still raises anticipation levels for the season ahead, Sunshine near Banff (above), Kicking Horse, pictured below and Panorama were among the areas getting fresh summer snow.

Sunshine is one of North America’s most snowsure resorts with a season likely to kick off in just over two months and then run for seven months until late May. This year it reopened in June and July for summer skiing after getting more than 10 metres of snowfall last winter, it often sees snowfall every month of the year.
