Snowtrax’s annual Pond Skim, sponsored by Goodr Sunglasses, exploded into its biggest, loudest and wettest edition to date, perhasps helped by temperatures in the mid-high 20s.
More than 90 skiers and snowboarders shot down the slope and across the water in full tropical fancy dress as crowds packed the banks from first drop‑in to final splash. The 2026 event brought a full beach‑party atmosphere to Dorset’s leading dry‑slope centre, complete with pumping music, sunshine, inflatables, BBQ, and the venue’s outdoor bar, The Sip & Dip.
Snowtrax confirmed this year’s turnout was comfortably its largest yet, with a fully stacked spectator area, and non‑stop energy throughout the afternoon. Riders launched down the 110m Proslope slope and into the man‑made pond, with clean skims earning cheers, and failed attempts earning even louder ones.
Snowtrax leaned hard into the Goodr aesthetic: Hawaiian shirts, 80s pastel beachwear, oversized shades, floppy hats. the louder the better. There was even the chance for participants to score free sunglasses. Spectators joined in, turning the slope into a full summer festival scene. The Sip & Dip bar served cocktails and mocktails pond‑side, while the BBQ kept the crowd fuelled.
Snowtrax is believed to be the only UK slope to run an annual pond skim event, making it a genuine one‑off in the British snowsports calendar. The centre’s Proslope surface, which Snowtrax helped pioneer, later acquired and recently rebranded, allows year‑round events like this, and has also featured in other UK pond‑skim innovations such as London’s first urban pond skim near Tower Bridge last autumn.
