Snow Still Dumping in the Alps

Snow is continuing to fall in the Alps, transforming the mountains after a warm and dry first half of the autumn left little snow lying on glaciers.

Hintertux in the Austrian Tirol, one of a dozen centres already open for the 23-24 ski season in Austria, Italy and Switzerland posted the image above on Friday morning, November 3rd, saying they’d had 40cm so far and that the snow was still dumping.

There’s nowhere open yet in the French Alps but there’s lots of snow arriving here too, Les Arcs is pictured below yesterday.

Three more ski areas, Austria’s Kitzsteinhorn and Molltal glaciers and Murren in Switzerland plan to open this weekend but Glacier 3000 near Gstaad has delayed their planned weekend opening from Saturday to next Wednesday because of all the snow falling.
