A Californian ski resort has asked its local sheriff to arrest a snowboarder which the resort says entered a closed area and triggered an avalanche.
The boarder, 29 year old Christian Mares, filmed himself as he was caught in the 15 second avalanche and posted the video on Youtube where it ‘went viral’ with nearly a quarter-of-a-million views in its first week.
Sugar Bowl Resort said the sector had been closed for the past five years.
Mares told the San Francisco Chronicle Friday that he didn’t know the area was closed and that he was just looking for a “nice cliff to drop,” and that, “No one wants to try to start an avalanche, that’d be absolutely crazy.”
