Chamonix Snow Report and Forecast 29 April, 2018

It’s definitely springtime in Chamonix with the lift-assisted skiing coming to an end this Tuesday, May 1^st.

Ski touring will continue of course though, but the resort and indeed the entire Alps continues to warn of considerable avalanche danger (level 3 of 5) , so it’s essential to be sure that wherever you’re heading should be safe.

Only a fraction of the lifts are operating and eight runs (that’s all but one) are still open up at Grands Montets where the snow depth is 2 metres.

Fresh snow is actually forecast for the final day of the season with about 12cm expected on April 30^th.
