French ski resort La Rosière has announced a full-on four day Christmas festival with contests including a creative snowman building competition and an ugly Christmas jumper showdown.

The resort’s Magic of Christmas Festival kicks off on Saturday 23rd December in a magical setting, in our beautiful forest at the heart of the resort.

Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest kicks off the festivities at 5pm on the 23rd with Christmas Eve kicking off with an igloo building workshop at 10am with the full Christmas Parade at 4.30pm and hour before Santa himself rocks up for a meet and greet.

Then it’s the free-to-enter snowman building competition on Boxing Day, the resort optimistically suggests skiers and riders can, “showcase their sculpting talents to create the most incredible snowman ever made!”

The resort’s specially trained elf referees will give sculptors the necessary time to create their master woks before choosing “the most beautiful sculpture of the day.” Snow creations will remain on display throughout the week in the pedestrian area for passers-by to admire.

A snowball fight and Christmas face painting are organised later in the day.

The events run alongside attractions like Christmas story time, Elf snacks and an American-style gospel choir which will be singing carols around the resort on Christmas Day.

“We are now seeing an uplift in Christmas bookings, and these are going to be some of the best value departures this season,” said Laura Hazel, Sales and Marketing Director of Ski Beat, which has a wide choice of chalets in La Rosière and still some availability left for Christmas week and at reduced prices!

Christmas week holidays are available with Ski Beat from £1026pp (was £1326pp, saving £300pp), based on two sharing an ensuite room in the cosy, homely Chalet Les Grandes Alpes.  The Christmas holiday includes chalet hosts to clean, cater and prepare and continental breakfasts, afternoon tea, three course evening meals with wine, a festive four course Christmas Day dinner, as well as return flights from Gatwick or Manchester (£10 supp), and airport to resort transfers.
