Switzerland Snow Report and Forecast to 3 February, 2018

Switzerland has had a mostly sunny week since the excesses of snowfall a week ago when resorts like Andermatt and Zermatt were cut off and many other areas had to close their ski areas due to the avalanche danger.

It’s a complete change now after hard working resort teams manged to re-open most slopes in the country and on piste conditions have been near perfect with the blue skies and abundant fresh snow.

Zermatt has also announced that the heliskiing season has begun.

Base depths are great across the country.  Switzerland has had the deepest bases in the world all season and that hasn’t changed with Crans Montana and Engelberg the only two on the planet to report a 6m/2000 foot plus base with 605cm and 625cm respectively – although that’s gone down a little on a week ago.

More snow is expected after a few more sunny days for the start of February but so far forecasters aren’t expecting huge snowfalls this time, just a refresh of cover.
