Where To Ski or Board in Switzerland During October 2017

Two Swiss ski centres have been open all summer: Zermatt, which has the highest ski slopes in Europe, and Saas Fee, which enjoys a nine-month season from July to next spring.

There’s 14km of runs open at Zermatt and a 60cm/2 foot base; Saas Fee (pictured above last month) has a 70cm base and 18km of runs to enjoy.

October will see four more glaciers opening in Switzerland to join them, all being well.

The Titlis glacier above Engelberg has not yet picked an opening date but may open as early as the first full weekend of the month on 7th/8th October.

Three other glaciers have named-the-day, conditions permitting, beginning with the Diavolezza glacier near St Moritz which plans to re-open for its long season through to late spring 2018 on 21st October.

Laax and Glacier 3000, close to Gstaad and Les Diablerets are aiming the open on the last weekend of the month 28 Oct.  Laax hope early conditions will be as good as last year…

So much snow! Winter 16/17

When you're so stoked about that fresh pow that you can't even walk straight. A little throwback to last winter. ❄️
