The old Plan du Fou cable car will be replaced by a gondola lift in the Nendaz sector of the 4 Valleys ski region in Switzerland next winter.

The new lift, part of a 25 million Swiss francs summer spend in the sector, will connect Prarion to Plan du Fou and also cover the route taken by the Fontaines T Bar lift, although, unlike the cable car, that lift will continue to operate after the new lift has been installed.

The base station of the new lift will be located next to the Prarion-Tracouet chairlift allowing boarding of both lifts at the same level. The top station will be fully connected with the Siviez-Plan du Fou Gondola and skiers will be able to opt to stay in and continue to travel from Prarion to Siviez without leaving the gondola or to get out at Plan du Fou and ski from there on the slopes of both sides of the mountain.

Capacity on the route will triple to 2400 people per hour which the lift company hopes will mean an end to any queues.

The company is also working on snowmaking upgrades in the Greppon-Blanc sector (Combatseline-Thyon) and artificial snowmaking on the Plan du Fou’s trails will also be completed.

The Nendaz lift company will now have spent a total of 60 million Swiss Francs over the past 4 years (2016 to 2019) in upgrades.
