STORY BY Patrick Thorne 29th November 2017

Conditions are currently looking increasingly good as the main season draws nearer in Italy.

More and more ski areas are opening for the season.

No huge snowfalls for a few weeks but temperatures have been low and there have been some small accumulations with more snow forecast later this week and in to the weekend in many areas.

According to the schedule, from Saturday 2nd December, some more lifts and slopes of Dolomiti Superski will be open. From 1st December skiarea of Obereggen will be ready and from 2nd December, skiing areas like Alta Badia, Carezza, Marmolada and Alpe Lusia/San Pellegrino will join them in the new season.

Next to the lifts and slopes who already work since November 11th and 25th, there will be in total 490 km of slopes and 194 lifts available from 2nd December 2017 in the Dolomites.

Many of the country’s leading areas including Courmayeur, Cortina, Livigno and San Martino have now opened for winter 17-18.  Cervinia reports the deepest base in the country at present at 1.3 metres.
