It has been a remarkably snowy week in Italy, the perfect start to the season.
Along with huge snowfalls in the West of the country, with up to 1.5m (five feet) of snow at resorts in the Aosta Valley, there’s been up to 75cm of snow in the Dolomites too.
Sauze d’Oulx is pictured above and below. The snow has kept falling and more is forecast.

The snow in the Dolomites is particularly welcome after three successive dry autumns where resorts have been reliant on snowmaking to be able to open.
The World Cup tour reaches the region this week with races in Val Gardena initially with Alta Badia to follow.
