Conditions are excellent pretty much across Italy’s ski slopes in terms of snow coverage, although, as with resorts in the other big four ski nations in the alps, there’s so much snow at some resorts they can’t safely open many, and in some cases, any of their ski runs.
So far some resorts in the Italian Alps in the Northwest of the country do not seem to have had quite the excessive snowfalls that have been reported in parts of Austria, Switzerland and France but slightly more moderate accumulations which are a little easier to manage.

This means that more Italian resorts – at least those a little away from the Northern and Western borders – have more terrain open and that access roads are less likely to be an issue too.
But not in all cases. Cervinia, which has the country’s deepest base at just over 3m/10 feet, has closed its slopes due to the avalanche danger again. It has had 30m of snow over the weekend and may get another 25cm on Monday but like the rest of the Italian Alps things should turn clear and sunny from Tuesday.
The Dolomites are looking good with some fresh snow but not enough to cause any operational difficulties.
