Summer training options for the world’s best freestylers have taken a major leap forward this week as Sakai Town, Ibaraki Prefecture in Japan announced the official opening of its towering 25‑metre Big Air jump.
Standing at a scale believed to be unmatched anywhere else, the new Big Air ramp has been built entirely with Snow Monkey’s dry‑slope materials engineered to support elite‑level progression, giving top‑tier skiers and snowboarders the height, speed and landing profile needed to attempt more complex tricks and push competitive boundaries year‑round. The dry‑slope surface is designed to replicate groomed snow closely, ensuring consistent performance regardless of weather.
The facility isn’t only for pros. Alongside the main 25‑metre jump, Sakai’s new freestyle zone includes a cluster of smaller jumps, creating a full progression pathway for beginners, developing athletes and daily training sessions. This multi‑tier setup positions Sakai as one of Japan’s most versatile freestyle training hubs.
