The Fantastic Gondolas festival returns to Lech this winter, a special evening near the start of the season when the cabins of the Rüfikopf cable car, are transformed into dance floors, served by various DJs and the exterior of the lift cabins and buildings are also illuminated with projected colour patterns.
Fantastic Gondolas, which attracts about 1,000 festival enthusiasts every year, will this season take place on 9 December 2017. The bottom and top stations, as well as all the gondolas will see Austrian and international DJs performing. These will include Tom Findley from Grammy nominees British band Groove Armada.
The surrounding mountain landscape will also be brought to life with large-scale projections by visual arts artists using multimedia installations and the event continues with the lift running through to 2am.
“If you did not know better, you could think you were at a festival in a major city rather than at 2,350 meters above sea level,” said Fabienne Kienreich of Lech Zürs Tourismus, who added, “Absolutely everyone dances at Fantastic Gondolas, sometimes in the snow.”
