British skiers have gained a new gateway to one of Sweden’s most scenic winter regions, as Crystal Ski Holidays launches a direct seasonal route from London Gatwick to Scandinavian Mountains Airport.

The weekly Sunday service, operated by TUI Airways, opens up easy access to three of Sweden’s most popular ski areas: Sälen, Stöten and Kläppen. Known for their tree‑lined pistes, family‑friendly terrain and classic Nordic activities including snowmobiling and dog sledding, the resorts offer a broad appeal for beginners and seasoned skiers alike.

Transfer times of under an hour are expected to be a major draw, with Crystal positioning the region as an effortless way to experience a “true Scandinavian winter wonderland”.

The inaugural flight departed Gatwick on Sunday 21 December 2025, delivering holidaymakers to the slopes just ahead of Christmas. The route will run weekly throughout the 2025/26 winter season, with final departures scheduled for 5 April 2026.

Scott Britton, Head of Crystal Ski Holidays, described the launch as “a fantastic addition to the Crystal programme”, adding that Sweden “really does have something for everyone… and with such short transfer times, it’s never been easier to experience a true Scandinavian winter wonderland.”

Gunnar Lenman, CEO and Airport Manager at Scandinavian Mountains Airport, welcomed the partnership, noting that the new Gatwick connection “opens up fantastic opportunities for British skiers” to explore resorts in Sälen and nearby Trysil in Norway. The first UK flight also coincided with new arrivals from Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands, marking Dashboarda milestone weekend for the airport.

“We look forward to giving Crystal customers a warm Scandinavian welcome this winter,” Lenman said.
