Cortina’s New Starlight Room

A new portable warm bedroom with glass walls designed for star gazers to enjoy an amazing night high in the Dolomites has been created by Raniero Campigotto, manager of the  Rifugio Col Gallina above Cortina d’Ampezzo.

The Starlight Room is located 2,055m up in Col Gallina, a few kilometers from the centre of Cortina, but far away from any source of light pollution. The room comes equipped with adjustable seats to help find the perfect stargazing position.

On clear nights the famous ‘enrosadira’ sets the Dolomites ablaze at sunset with fiery shades of red, then during night time the multitude of stars across the sky appear so close you can almost reach out and touch them…. And finally at dawn  you’ll see the Dolomites blushing pink as they are kissed by the first rays of the rising sun.

The Starlight Room Dolomites is accessible by snowmobile from Rifugio Col Gallina (or by snowshoeing or on a fat bike) and can be booked for one or two persons at the cost of 300 euros per night (dinner and breakfast included).  cortinadolomiti.eu
