In Alta Badia, the slopes are not just for skiing and many unique events allow you to make so much more of your time on the mountain. Wine lovers in particular are in for a treat, with the area’s most popular events including the sommelier on the slopes and the fantastic wine ski safari, which allows participants to explore the area and it’s best local wines at four mountain huts.

Here you’re also spoilt when it comes to professional ski racing. The Giant Slalom and night-time Parallel Giant Slalom in Alta Badia are an experience not to be missed, whilst the downhill race at Val Gardena is often one of the most exciting of the season.

Sommelier on the Slopes

Wine and ski lovers can’t miss the event Sommelier on the slopes. A ski expert and a sommelier accompany participants for a wine tasting on the slopes of Alta Badia. Some of the most refined wines in South Tyrol will be tasted on seven tbc different afternoons in December, January, February and March. A favourable climate, fertile soil and love of wine making are responsible for South Tyrol’s excellent wines. On Sunday XYth March Alta Badia brings the best regional red and white wines as well as sparkling wines to 2000 m for a particular tasting. Wine lovers can discover the great variety of local wines at the four mountain huts Pralongiá, Bioch, I Tablá and Piz Arlara TBC, accompanied by Speck Alto Adige PGI. Tickets for the wine tasting are €30,00 TBC each and may be obtained from the four participating huts. You can find the relevant leaflet at any Alta Badia tourist office. No prepayment possible. Be careful when skiing.

Gran Risa FIS Ski World Cup

Every winter, around mid-December, the world of skiing looks to South Tyrol and Alta Badia. For this is the time when four races of the Men’s Alpine Ski World Cup take place in our home country.
The Giant Slalom on the Gran Risa Piste in Alta Badia and the Downhill Race in Val Gardena count amongst the great classic competitions of Alpine skiing and the night-time Parallel Giant Slalom on the Gran Risa is one of the most popular races among the spectators.
