June is a quiet month for skiing in Italy with only one area open for much of the month.
There was fresh snow in the Italian Alps in late May, with Cervinia the only area open in the country then, and just at weekends, so there is some fresh snow on top of the deep bases built through the snowy winter.
Cervinia (pictured below on 12 May) closed after the last weekend of May, but it will re-open for summer skiing from Friday 29th at the end of the month.
However a new Italian option has just opened – Passio Stelvio (top), the ski area next to Italy’s highest road pass which is opened each year in time for the famous Giro d’Italia cycle road race to pass through in late May.
So that has just happened and snow conditions are reported to be great.
