Around two dozen Italian ski areas are still open for the 2017-18 season, although for more than half of those this is the last weekend of the season.
It has been sun, sun, sun in most areas, with temperatures well in to double digits in the valleys and above freezing up high too, although the thaw is not quite so fast and dramatic up there.
The forecast is for more of the same.
Cervinia still has the deepest snow base at over 4m up high and it will stay open for snow sports, along with its cross-border ski link over to Zermatt in Switzerland, for another fortnight to May 6th.
