What’s New in Courchevel for Winter 2018/2019

Courchevel is making a real push this year towards being a great resort for all levels. A whole range of exciting new developments to come in the Courchevel area with a total of 42 million euros invested.

SKI AREA DEVELOPMENT

€1 million investment in next generation eco-friendly snowmakers – 26 new machines will be installed on the Lac des Creux and Rama runs. Courchevel now has 695 alone

NEW GRANGETTES GONDOLA LIFT BETWEEN COURCHEVEL VILLAGE AND COURCHEVEL (1850)

  • It replaces 4 seater cabins with new ones which take 10 people.
  • Lighting inside and out when it’s dark.
  • Travel time drops from 5 to 2.55 minutes and capacity is 2,400 + people per hour.
  • The gondolas offers direct access to the slopes without the need for stairs.

 

SKI PASS (2 DAYS OR MORE) FOR THE COURCHEVEL VALLEY GIVES YOU ACCESS TO AQUAMOTION (1 DAY)

2019/2020: new chairlift between Aquamotion and Courchevel (1850) will open and a new slope will be created.

INFRASTRUCTURE

DECEMBER 2019: New ‘ MULTI-SERVICE ‘ BUILDING (COURCHEVEL LE PRAZ)

500 covered parking spaces, new station for the gondola lift, tourist office, S3V lift company sales desks, playroom for children, medical centre, ski lockers, 245m² multipurpose room, sports ground on the roof.

Currently being worked on is the renovation of La Croisette in Courchevel.

EVENTS

Organization of the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2023: Men’s races in Courchevel and Ladies races in Meribel.

A long tradition of organizing major international events such as the Ladies Alpine World Cup. There are two races in December 2018- 1 giant slalom and 1 slalom – and the International Festival of Pyrotechnic arts.
