It’s expected to keep snowing for most of the coming week at many ski resorts in Europe.
After a largely dry week up to Christmas, the snow has started falling in the past few hours at some resorts and is forecast to intensify over the next 24 hours.

Many areas should have had around 30cm of fresh snow by the weekend and the longer term forecast currently is for the snow to continue falling in to next week.
The forecast is for snow in all of Europe’s mountain regions as well as the Alps snow is forecast for Scandinavia, Scotland, Eastern Europe, the Dolomites and Pyrenees. Even Europe’s most southerly major resort, Sierra Nevada, is expecting snow.
The snowfalls are the latest in a series through November and December which have led to ski weather site Snow-forecast.com to say that statistically, overall, this is the best start to the season in Europe this century and since winter 1996-97.
