It has been about the biggest weekend of the season at Val Gardena with the Downhill Skiing World Cup in town at the weekend.
The world’s biggest names in alpine racing were here testing out the conditions, which are the best they’ve been in mid-December for at least four years.

105 of the resort’s 112 ski runs are open including the full Sella Ronda link and 75 of the area’s 79 lifts are running too – so pretty much full capacity.
Base depths are 5-50cm. More snow would always be nice but with temperatures well below zero and clear sunny skies it’s hard not to enjoy it.
