Val d’Isère Launch Lower Cost Limited Area Pass

Val d’Isère have made the interesting move of launching a lift pass valid on only a part of their (huge) ski area this winter.

The new Solaise area only pass is available for purchase a day at a time and at a cost of 35 Euros for adults.  The pass includes the new Solaise Gondola, the Madeleine, Datcha, and Glacier chairs, the two village lifts of Legettaz and Rogoney and the three magic carpets.

The launch of the pass coincides with the opening of the resort’s replacement and greatly upgraded Solaise Gondola, one of the resort’s two main lifts, after a two-year, €16 million, redevelopment.

It is not unusual for resorts to offer limited areas passes at low cost or even free for beginner skiers but these are usually for much smaller areas with a few drag and carpet lifts.

The lift company will also be offering a one-day Discovery pass, which covers all the Val d’Isère (but not Tignes) lifts for 49€.  A full Espace Killy pass including Tignes costs 55.50 Euros.

In another initiative, if you book a week of beginner lessons with a recognised ski school you can get a six-day Val d’Isère –Tignes pass for only 139€ – half price, a saving of 139€.
