British snowboarder Owen Pick has picked up two World Cup gold medals in La Molina, Spain.

Pick went into the event after winning Briton’s first ever Dew Tour gold medal in the US in February. Now his two first place finishes in Spain ensured Pick’s first career gold medals in a World Cup event.

Pick was a double bronze medalist at the same event last year in the LL2 category but went two better this time round beating Codina Thomatis took two bronze medals and double silver medalist Ben Tudhope of Australia.

Speaking after the event Pick said: “I’m really stoked on today’s racing in not the best conditions and to get my first gold is awesome, but now I am focused on the World Cup Finals in Norway later this month.”

James Barnes-Miller was also on the podium with his first ever banked slalom silver medal in the men’s SB-UL class (pictured below).  Both golds went to Italy’s Jacopo Luchini who fended off Barnes-Miller in the first final, and France’s Maxime Montaggioni in the second.

Owen Pick was injured in 2010 while serving in Afghanistan, losing his right leg. As part of his rehabilitation he was encouraged to try various sports. He subsequently found success in world para-snowboarding events, including representing his country in the Winter Olympics in his sport and as a flag bearer.
