One of the world’s best known ski resorts, St Anton am Arlberg in the Austrian Tirol, does have a life outside of the winter season and what is one of its resident’s favourite pastimes?  line dancing.

The St. Anton Line Dance Festival from 9th to 11th September 2016 will be extra special this year because the resort plans an attempt to break the world record, set back in 2014.

To achieve this, the Tyroleans will need at least 1,195 dancers to move as synchronously as possible to the lively sound of country music. However the chances are good, because around 1,300 line dance fans have already registered to attend.

The record attempt will be made in three classic and two new disciplines, which take place on Friday and Saturday.  Line dancers need to demonstrate their feeling for rhythm in clearly defined choreography during “20 dances in one hour.”

Anyone can then join in the so-called “snake dance” through the streets of St. Anton. “The more the merrier!” said a resort spokesperson.
