A second week where the Pyrenees have had rather more fresh snowfall than the Alps.
Resorts in the French Alps won’t mind much though as most have had 10-20cm of fresh snow over the weekend – great for freshening up cover without causing too many issues for road crews and lift operators, unlike with the huge snowfalls last month.
With this being the first weekend of the big school holidays period that’s particularly good news.

At least one ski area in the French Pyrenees had to close on the crucial Saturday 10th February though as heavy snow caused road problems and put the avalanche danger there up to 4 out of 5.
By Sunday however, things were much improved.
The week ahead so far looks mostly old, clear and sunny again which, given the incredible bases at most French resorts, means it should be a good one.
