A number of ski areas in Japan have announced they’ll be providing a ‘snow taxi’ service to get skiers up the slopes in January and February as an alternative to the ski lift.
The snow taxis are being operated in Subaru cars as a publicity stunt for the manufacturer, picking up skiers and boarders in the lift queue and racing them up the mountain faster than if they used the ski lift.
Subaru have released several promotional videos for the new service which they say will be more fun than riding the lifts, from the videos it certainly looks bouncier. They hope the service will highlight the off-road on-snow handling of their SUV vehicles.
The service will launch in the country’s Tokai region on January 28th, 2017 and move to various over a 9 day period to February 5th.
