For the first time ever, Nevis Range ski area in Scotland is planning a Pre-season Backcountry Gathering on Saturday, 30th November.
“This day is designed to Inspire – whether you’re just starting to access offpiste and backcountry terrain, considering where next, wondering how to do it better (and safer), or working out what your next big adventure will be,” said the centre’s Heather Negus.
The group of well informed and inspirational presenters brought together by Nevis Range to share, inform, and entertain include Davy Gunn (www.crankitupgear.com), Kenny Biggin (author of the new Scottish Offpiste guidebook), and Rich Bentley (Mountain Motion). The Gathering is a great opportunity for freeriders to meet up, talk about skiing and boarding, make plans, and start to get psyched for the season ahead.
Based in the Pinemarten cafe bar at the gondola base station, the informal day will include plenty of time for chat, stories, sharing experiences, discussing equipment, and reminding yourselves how to ski well and stay safe. Participants should bring along their kit (skis, boards, avalanche / ski mountaineering kit, etc, if they have it) as there will be sessions and games a-plenty to help get you ready for the first dumps of snow.
The day will kick off at 10.30am until around 6.30pm, and the nominal cost of £10 includes coffee and a bacon roll on arrival.
