The 33rd edition of Saas Fee’s famous Allalin Downhill Races will be staged over the weekend of 10th and 11th April.
The race is one of the longest in the world, on a 9km long course over 1,800 vertical metres from the ski area’s highest point at 3,600m down to the finish line at the foot of the pistes by the resort itself.
The race attracts novice and professional ski racers competing in four separate competitions. These include a race for singles (male and female), couples (“his and hers”) and teams, and there’s even a “just for fun” team race.
The fastest athletes normally complete the race in less than five minutes, but for the rest of us a coffee pit stop half way down is entirely acceptable and fancy dress is actively encouraged.
