Work to complete the €16 million connection between Châtel’s Super-Châtel and Linga ski sectors in the huge Portes du Soleil ski region will be completed in time for this winter.
New 6 seater and 4 seater chairlifts, named the “Gabelou” and “Portes du Soleil” chairlifts, make the connection on the French side of the giant French-Swiss were completed last winter, but the piste link is opening this December.
The lifts leave from Vonnes, an area of Châtel located on the border towards Morgins, a neighbouring resort on the Swiss side of the Portes du Soleil.
The new run is called “La Forestière” and it runs from Super- Châtel to Vonnes down through the forest.
The installation of the new ski lift link between Linga and Super-Châtel is being promoted as an environmentally friendly measure as it means that skiers can enjoy the entire ski area without using public transport or private cars.
A Châtel ski pass is available for thpse who don’t want to ski the full Portes du Soleil region. It gives access to 56 ski lifts and 66 ski runs including Barbossine/Super-Châtel/Linga/Pré-la-Joux, it is valid for the entire Swiss resort of Torgon, the Corbeau sector of another Swiss resort, Morgins, and the Braitaz section of La Chapelle d’Abondance (including the La Panthiaz bubble).
