Hochgurgl in the Austrian Tirol has announced a new 10-person gondola will go in to service there for the 2018/19 winter season.
Hochgurgl, a collection of up-market hotels in an enclave above the Obergurgl-Hochgurgl ski area, reports that the new Kirchenkarbahn Sevtion II gondola will take skiers and boarders up to 2,839m.
The Obergurgl-Hochgurgl ski area at the head of the Otztal Valley has 110 km of groomed pistes which vary from gently-rolling beginner runs to steep downhill slopes offering something for all levels of skier and snowboarder.
Thanks to its altitude, it is one of the first areas in the Alps to open non-glacier ski terrain each winter, this year scheduled to open on November 16th.
