The Ski Area

Back to Morzine

Morzine is slap bang in the centre of the Portes du Soleil, meaning that a ski holiday here provides unparalleled access to over 600km of skiing.

Here you will find new adventures for skiers of all abilities, whether its your first time on the snow or your fiftieth. Beginners will be sure to enjoy the gentle slopes easily accessible just above the village in the Pléney area. Here, a beginner slope with a handy conveyer belt lift and spectacular views of Mont Blanc will give first-time skiers the best possible introduction to life on the slopes. Throw in some of Europe’s top ski schools and many options for a mid morning hot chocolate stop and you’re onto a winning combination for beginners.

More advanced skiers will have the entire Portes du Soleil area at their fingertips. There’s something for everyone – whether you prefer cruising down tree-lined red runs, taking on the most challenging of steeps (don’t miss the notorious Swiss Wall) or amping up the mileage on a Portes du Soleil tour.

In Morzine itself, expert skiers should head to the Chamossière sector, the highest point of the resort, with some superb technical slopes. Overlooked by Nyon, the emblematic peak of Morzine, eagles and skiers have fun on the slopes and freestyle fans can admire the quality of the Snowpark before heading over into the charming area of Les Gets.

But what’s new in Morzine this winter? We explore below:

Le Pas de l’Aigle

Experience a bird’s eye view with the Alps at your feet! At the summit of Nyon at 2019 metres altitude, this 10m long glass walkway offers a uniquely vertiginous experience. The visitor is treated to a 350m drop beneath their feet and a breath-taking 360° view from Lake Geneva to Mont Blanc. Access is free and only possible on skis from the top of the Nyon chairlift.

The Eagles of Léman

The Eagles of Léman will be back to nest this winter with new birds and original entertainment! The partnership between Aigles du Léman and the ski area of Morzine has been enhanced this winter. Whether you prefer the new falconry walks along nature trails accompanied by eagles, or would rather stay on your skis for slope-side outings to discover new rare birds, this is a unique and incredible experience you won’t find anywhere else! Atop the gondola, a newly refurbished restaurant with an enormous terrace awaits you for flight demonstrations.

A Stunning New Piste

The remodelling of the red Aigle run going from the summit of Nyon at 2019 metres down to the Nyon plateau at 1,413m which began last year will be completed for winter 2020-2021. The run will be 3x wider with 2km of skiing pleasure!

The Eagle Park

The Eagle Park is the place to be this winter! Pretend you’re an eagle just for a moment… In this ski area the more adventurous will be able to test the new XL version boarder cross starting from the top the Raverettes chair. The reshaped and enlarged snow park will offer some new features. In order to use less artificial snow, the features will be created and shaped from an earth base. Air and excitement guaranteed!

Ski Touring: Full Moon Party!

Every month at the approach of the full moon, Friday night is the opportunity for a nocturnal mountain party, hiking up by night with a group, having a meal in a refuge and then skiing back down! These outings are organised by the Morzine-Avoriaz Tourist Office, offering the possibility of renting a ski touring package and skins in the shops in the resort.
