Ski racer Mikaela Shiffrin has became the most successful alpine ski racer of all time after taking two successive World Cup victories in GS and Slalom races at Åre in Sweden.
Her win on Friday put her equal on 86 victories with Sweden’s Ingemar Stenmark, who had held the title for 34 years.
Her win today, Saturday, takes her to 87 victories, the most ever.
Her boyfriend, Norwegian ski racer Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, commented, “The greatest skier (and human) of all time. You’re spectacular Mikaela!!!”
Shiffrin, who turns 28 on Monday, had her first victory 11 years ago, also at Åre.
The American has raced her entire career on Atomic skis, with the manufacturer supplying the skis pictured above after her record equalling run on Friday, then posting the image below from their factory on Saturday.
