Italy’s Madesimo ski area have announced that their Larici gondola will stay open until 10.45am on Saturday evenings this winter (the evening lift pass costs €13) allowing people to tackle the floodlit Pianello and Montalto pistes or simply tuck into a moonlit dinner at the Larici restaurant. It’s a much later opening for night skiing than is usually offered by resorts providing this opportunity.

To add to the fun, the resort is also launching a new music library with a collection of over 20,000 albums provided by Sony Music to listen to with sophisticated equipment for free.
During the daytime, Madesimo has earned a reputation for attracting Alpine adrenaline junkies with one of the most challenging black runs in the region – the 3.5km off-piste Canelone, which includes a 1km vertical run.
The nearest airports to Madesimo are at Milan (138km) and Bergamo (119km), with direct flights from the UK from a range of operators, including easyJet and British Airways. There are bus and train connections and a taxi-share programme direct to the village which offers free transfers in December and January.

Packages are available from Momentum ski, who offer a tailor-made option with prices starting from seven nights’ half board at the 4★ Hotel Andossi with private transfers from £718 or three nights’ B&B at the 2★ K2 hotel with flights from Gatwick and car hire from £348pp, both based on two sharing.
