90% of avalanches that cause accidents are triggered by the victim. Henry’s Avalanche Talks show how to manage the risk yet still have fun. Entitled Ride Hard Ride Safe the aim is to help skiers answer the question ‘is it safe out there?’ by discussing facts such as where and when you ascend and descend and being well prepared with necessary equipment. There is also an in-depth version of the talk focussing on how avalanches are triggered. This module looks at various theories of triggering and helps skiers understand exactly how and why the avalanche is triggered.
