Snow conditions have turned around a good deal in Tignes after the resort was forced to delay its opening, planned for the last weekend in France, for a fortnight due to warm weather and a lack of fresh snow on the glacier.
Still opening more than a month before any other French ski area however, the resort has had more than a foot of snow since the weekend and issued a powder alarm for 20cm of powder in 24 hours on October 30th. Its base is now 25-60cm of “packed powder” and it is expecting more snow for the start of September.

Over the last weekend Tignes made its annual unique annual Halloween celebration, with resort staff happily warning visitors, “Scream with fear, no one can hear!”
The weekend is described as, “a terrifying event that demands a great deal of composure,” and includes attraction including horror movies, a blood red pool and haunted car parks.
