A new quad chairlift to be installed at Scotland’s Glenshee Ski Centre may go into service in time for the 2018/19 ski season.
“Work is expected to start as soon as funds are in place, most likely during spring 2018,” a statement from Ski Scotland claims.
Glenshee has been given planning permission for the four-person chairlift to replace the elderly Cairnwell T-bar tow by the Cairngorms National Park Authority (CNPA) earlier this autumn.
The new chair will transport almost 2,000 people per hour – three times as many skiers as the surface tow – and will be much more user-friendly for snowboarders.
The development is part of an ongoing programme to replace the older infrastructure at Glenshee and improve the visitor experience at the site. It is expected to be operational in 2019.
Glenshee Ski Centre is the largest of its kind in Scotland, covering an area of more than 2,000 acres extending across four mountains.
