Goggle and helmet specialist Giro7 designed the Ella Goggles to be a progressive piece, sitting at the top of their range.

The frameless goggle has a sleek design with a clean style and a women’s specific fit. It is easy to adjust and will work well both with a helmet or without – there are lots of good features here.

The main factor to keep in mind when buying a pair of goggles for skiing or snowboarding is which colour lens to go for.  The Ella goggles come with two lenses, I went for the Vivid Copper for bluebird days and Vivid Infrared stormy days.

The Ella model features the VIVID Lens Technology, this technology was developed by Giro in partnership with the optics experts from ZEISS. The lenses are designed specifically for snow-light conditions to accentuate contrast and definition. A full wide range of lens tints are available to best suit your needs in full sun, mixed clouds, stormy or night conditions. Nine models feature the VIVID Lens Technology.

“Frameless design with elegant new Quick-Change lens system and clean, bold style”

The Quick Change lens system utilizes two self-locating magnets making it quick and easy to swap out the lenses if the conditions changes during the day.

Tested in both sunny and flat light conditions, these goggles are very versatile and the quick change system made them ultra-practical. The Vivid Infrared allowed me to make the most of snowy days and it’s in these tricky conditions these really goggles stand out.

In terms of price point – it’s worth the investment. A good pair of goggles featuring the best technologies will provide game changing results, bringing contrast to a white out day and making it more bearable. With these goggles you can still have a great time on the mountain no matter the conditions.

The EVAK Vent Technology minimizes the chance of fogging by releasing moisture, while effective air vents coupled with the frame offers great peripheral vision. This combined to another big plus: the comfort, which makes you forget that you’re wearing them.

“The goggle has a heavy focus on aesthetics providing a defining new look for Giro goggles. Equally, we wanted to load the goggle with technical features that enhance the ride of the end user at a competitive price point. The bottom line – a modern look combined with new technology features such as VIVID.” said Travis Tomczak.

Leaving aside the elegant frameless design, styling and details, overall I found the snow definition to be very good in a wide range of lighting conditions. The Giro Ella definitely sit as the top goggles I’ve tried.
