Arc’teryx 2018-2019 Preview – ISPO 2018 – Ski Touring

The latest international trends and product innovations from the winter sports and outdoor sectors is what ISPO is all about. But this could also apply to Arc’teryx. Trends and innovation is entirely part of the Canadian brand’s DNA.  In-house manufacturing and design centres allow the brand to constantly evolve and build products the right way. Committed to accelerating evolution by constantly refining their products we caught a glimpse of what’s on offer next season from Arc’Teryx on the backcountry touring side.

Arc’teryx Essentials apparel is carefully designed to deliver the versatility required to perform across a range of activities in diverse conditions, and work with the equipment this varied exploration requires.  Having product in the hands of customers, athletes and staff generates continuous feedback. Informed by use, their products improve. This use-driven design results in refined, highly focused products that provide effortless solutions.

The Alpha SK 32: Built for the Backcountry

Backcountry touring demands lightweight, hardwearing and highly weather-resistant gear. The Alpha SK 32 is the result – a versatile, adaptable, exceptionally weather resistant pack designed for freeride ski touring. Weatherproof, lightweight and durable, this perfectly sized pack is specifically designed to carry the tools necessary for safe, comfortable backcountry travel. No hacks required! Leveraging a modular carriage system, the Alpha SK 32 uses patent pending Arc’teryx straps which allow for diagonal, A-frame or snowboard vertical carry set ups. Simpler and lighter, the system reduces weight and minimizes potential snagging by eliminating extra straps.

New for Fall/Winter 2018, the Alpha SK 32 Pack is the pinnacle of use-driven design. Created to carry the tools necessary for safe, comfortable travel across backcountry snow, the fast and light pack is perfectly sized and equipped for an extended day of Freeride touring and ski alpinism.

Constructed from hardwearing, weatherproof and lightweight AC2 material, the pack is a highly adaptable platform designed to provide backcountry ski and snowboarding enthusiasts with the carriage options they need, no hacks required.

Modular Ski and Snowboard Carry

The Alpha SK 32 pack leverages a modular ski carriage system. Using ARC’TERYX exclusive patent-pending TPU ski straps, you can set up the pack for a diagonal or A-frame carry. Snowboards carry vertically. Simpler and lighter, the system reduces weight and minimizes potential snagging by eliminating excess straps.

Storage for Backcountry Essentials

With 32 litres of storage, the Alpha SK 32 allow you to pack all the essentials you’ll need for a day in the backcountry. The pack’s water-resistant front pocket is designed to store and organize shovel, probe, snow assessment tools, skins and other gear, keeping them readily at hand while ensuring the pack’s main compartment stays secure and dry.

Weighting 99g, the backpack has side access zippers that allow access to the main body of the pack, making transitioning between gear and clothing on the go a practice of efficiency. And while the pack’s lid is designed to securely carry a helmet, it’s also ideal for stashing ropes, skins and other bulky items, keeping them out of the way, yet instantly accessible.

Procline AR Carbon Boot –  Agility for the ascent, performance for the descent

The Procline AR Carbon is the ideal ski touring boot for skiers looking to push further into untracked territories and enjoy the reward of descending untouched terrain. The materials and construction are carefully selected and leveraged to create a boot that fits comfortably, responds quickly, and drives power to the ski. When in ascent mode, it delivers exceptional freedom of movement thanks to the boot’s patented 360° rotating cuff that delivers unrivaled vertical and lateral ankle agility enabling balance, control and comfort on technical ascents, and improved edge control, stability and safety while skinning steep traverses. On the descent, the cuff quickly locks down for rigidity, support and power transfer. As a result of this improved efficiency, skiers are able to take longer tours and tackle steeper terrain.

Agility for the Ascent

Featuring a revolutionary, patented two-piece carbon fibre upper cuff system that offers 360° of rotation, the Procline AR boot delivers unrivalled vertical and lateral ankle agility. This enables balance, control, and comfort on technical ascents, improving edge control, and stability.

Performance for the Decent

Built for confident downhill travel on all snow conditions, the new Procline AR Carbon is the ideal ski touring boot for skiers looking to push further into untracked territories and enjoy the reward of descending untouched terrain. The materials and construction are carefully selected and leveraged to create a boot that fits comfortably, responds quickly, and drives power to the ski.

Lightweight Design

The Procline AR’s carefully considered design, construction and materials keep the boot’s weight as low as functionally possible without sacrificing the mobility and agility for the ascent or the support required for the descent.
