French ski areas are hoping for significant snowfall over the coming week.
Overnight on Wednesday-Thursday January 4th/5th there was the first good snowfalls reported for more than a month for most areas.
Avoriaz posted the biggest 24 hour accumulation so far of 40cm to January 5th.

Most French areas have had good snow cover despite the lack of fresh snow thanks to big snowfalls back in early November which allowed several to open early and meant bases were good, particularly on higher slopes right through Christmas.
Some lower areas did have problems though with thin cover and they will be particularly hoping forecasts in some cases of over a metre of fresh snow by the end of the week to 14th January will come true.
