It has been a cold and snowy week in Chamonix with March beginning with temperatures double digits below freezing.
About a foot (30cm) of snowfall has been reported this week and the start of the coming week should stay snowy too.

The resort is still not providing measurements for what’s probably the deepest base on Grand Montets, but is reporting up to 360cm of snow lying at other sectors. About 85% of lifts are operating and trails are open across the Chamonix valley.
The off piste avalanche danger is high at 3 – 4 on the danger scale (which has a max of 5)
